Ambassador Chase Untermeyer is a highly experienced public-sector leader, international strategist, author, and business advisor with more than five decades of leadership experience across government, diplomacy, academia, journalism, and business.

As advisor to the Board of EMGS, Ambassador Untermeyer brings extensive experience in international relations, government affairs, public policy, organizational leadership, and cross-border business engagement. His career spans senior roles at the local, state, national, and international levels, including service in the United States Navy, the Texas House of Representatives, the White House, the U.S. Department of the Navy, the Voice of America, and the U.S. diplomatic corps.

From 2004 to 2007, Ambassador Untermeyer served as United States Ambassador to Qatar, following appointment by President George W. Bush and confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Earlier in his career, he served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs under President Ronald Reagan, and as Assistant to the President and Director of Presidential Personnel under President George H.W. Bush.

In addition to his government and diplomatic service, Ambassador Untermeyer has held leadership and advisory roles in business, education, healthcare, public policy, ethics, transportation, and cultural institutions. He has advised organizations with interests in the United States and the Middle East and has served on several public, nonprofit, and advisory boards.

Ambassador Untermeyer is a graduate of Harvard College and is the author of several books, including three diary-based memoirs covering the Reagan-Bush era and How Important People Act: Behaving Yourself in Public. He is currently Professor of Practice at the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston and Ambassador-in-Residence in the history department at Texas Tech University.
