Major General Elder Granger is a highly accomplished executive, physician, and former senior military leader with extensive experience in global operations, strategic leadership, governance, risk management, and large-scale organizational execution. His distinguished career spans defense, healthcare systems, international program management, and corporate governance, bringing decades of executive-level leadership experience to the Board.

Prior to retiring from the United States Army as a Major General in 2009, Dr. Granger served as Deputy Director and Program Executive Officer of the TRICARE Management Activity within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs in Washington, D.C. In this role, he oversaw the acquisition, operation, and integration of the Department of Defense managed healthcare system and served as principal advisor on defense healthcare policy and performance.

Major General Granger led a global organization of approximately 1,800 personnel responsible for planning, budgeting, and executing a $22.5 billion Defense Health Program, delivering high-quality healthcare services to more than 9 million military service members, retirees, and their families worldwide. His leadership emphasized operational excellence, accountability, measurable performance standards, and strategic partnerships across the healthcare sector.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has received numerous military and professional honors, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star Medal, and recognition as one of the National Association of Corporate Directors’ Top 100 Directors in 2022.

Dr. Granger is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology-Oncology and holds multiple executive and governance certifications in healthcare management, medical quality, compliance, cybersecurity oversight, and corporate governance. He has served on the boards and advisory councils of major healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations, including Cigna, Kaléo, and Defense Logistics Health.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He later received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Meharry Medical College in recognition of his contributions to healthcare leadership and public service.
