Atlantic has started its first campaign for EMGS, with the first receivers now on the seabed for a fully funded multi-client campaign offshore Norway. Newly equipped for controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) surveys, the vessel adds capacity and flexibility to our offshore operations.
Exploration companies have acquired large new offshore positions in recent years as they look to replenish reserves. Much of this is frontier acreage with large prospects that now need to be evaluated and ranked.
“The question with a large frontier prospect is what it contains, not just how big it is. Where the geology is suitable, CSEM can help answer that before drilling,” says EMGS CEO Bjørn Petter Lindhom.
CSEM remains our core business. Atlantic’s experience as a seismic source vessel also supports our work with industry partners to develop sparse ocean-bottom node (OBN) seismic and broader multiphysics acquisition capabilities.
Preparing Atlantic for this campaign has been a joint effort by EMGS’ onshore and offshore teams, Sea Shipping and the vessel crew. Thank you to everyone for the work that has gone into getting the vessel and equipment ready, and to the teams now carrying out the campaign at sea.
